Hunter Buchanan
Hunter Buchanan is a Director of Photography based in Charlotte, North Carolina, shooting commercial and documentary work across 30+ countries.
He shoots commercials, brand films and documentaries — lighting and camera led, with a documentary instinct for the real moment. Rooted in humanitarian filmmaking, his work blends cinematic storytelling with emotional honesty.
He’s partnered with organizations like Compassion International, Samaritan’s Purse, and World Vision, creating films that have raised over $5 million for individual nonprofit causes. As a DP, he’s shot commercial projects for Harley-Davidson, Captain Morgan, Burn Bootcamp, Dirt Devil, JCPenney, and the NFL, with featured work premiering at Harley-Davidson’s Homecoming event.
Alongside his camera work he is a documentary director at Darkbloom Studios, currently developing multiple feature documentaries — including one exploring motorcycles and mental health.
